Net Status Color Code Meaning

The Net Status Color Code is determined automatically by a program that is monitoring the National Weather Service's RSS feeds and the Hazardous Weather Outlook. If there are no watches or warnings in any *Primary county and the Hazardous Weather Outlook is not specifying that spotter activation "may be" or "will be" required, the Net Status Color Code will be

"White : Net NOT Activated, no severe weather is anticipated."

If there are no watches or warnings in any *Primary county, but the Hazardous Weather Outlook indicates that spotter activation "may be" or "will be" required, the Net Status Color Code will be changed to

"Blue : Net NOT Activated, threat of severe weather is recognized."

If weather watches (severe thunderstorm, or tornado) have been issued for a * Primary county the Net Status Color Code will be changed to

"Green : Net Activation Possible, weather watches have been issued."

If weather watches have been issued for a *Primary county AND a warning has been issued for a **Secondary county the Net Status Color Code will be changed to

"Yellow : Net Activation Likely, severe weather developing."

If a warning (severe thunderstorm or tornado) is issued for a Primary county* the Net Status Color Code will be changed to

"RED : NET ACTIVATED or NET ACTIVATION HIGHLY LIKELY, WARNINGS ISSUED."

We assume that if a Severe Thunderstorm Warning or Tornado Warning has been issued for a *Primary county that the Net has been or will soon be activated. This may not always be the case, but we will assume it. In any case, if the Net Status is RED, you are advised to seek shelter and monitor your National Weather Service radio, local radio stations or television coverage for further information.

*Primary Counties :
Anoka, Carver, Dakota, Hennepin, Ramsey, Scott, Sherburne, Washington and Wright.

**Secondary Counties :
Benton, Stearns, Meeker, McLeod, Sibley and LeSeur.
